Maddie's Fund

The Hayward Animal Shelter is a proud recipient of funding from Maddie's Fund, helping to achieve a no-kill nation #ThanksToMaddie. We thank Maddie's Fund for the opportunity to participate in the Maddie's Pet adoption Days since 2010. Their generous funding has enabled the shelter to install much needed air conditioning throughout the kennels, providing comfort to our homeless animals on hot days; sound proof ducting in several wards therefore decreasing the stress levels for some of our shelter residents; provide behavior training to shelter staff; and provide medical care to shelter residents, easing their pain and increasing their chances for adoption.
Thank you Maddie's Fund!

Maddie's Fund is a family foundation founded in 1994 by Workday co-founder Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl, who have endowed the Foundation with more than $300 million. Since then, they have awarded more than $153 million in grants toward increased community lifesaving, shelter medicine education, and pet adoptions across the U.S. The Duffields named Maddie's Fund after their Miniature Schnauzer Maddie, who always made them laugh and comforted them during stressful business times when Dave was launching a startup software company.  Maddie was with Dave and Cheryl from 1987-1997 and continues to inspire them today.
